Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! I’ve got lots of fun things coming up but until then I’ve got a couple of Christmas-related posts to help make your run up to Christmas more exciting!
This year I am going FULL ON for Christmas; I’m talking movies, songs, festive activities and even fashion! I’ll be sharing it all with you and hopefully it’ll get you in the Christmas mood too!
So today I’m going to be sharing my Top 5 Recommended Christmas films! Maybe you’ve watched them, maybe you haven’t but I’m very old skool when it comes to Christmas movies so I’m afraid to say you won’t find ‘Elf’ on this list!Home Alone 2: Lost in New York – This movie is probably THE must to watch at Christmas!! I prefer this one over any of the others because it is far more Christmassy and it really makes me laugh! Everything from the setting (Christmas in New York, what could be more perfect?) and the soundtrack really makes me feel like Christmas is here. It’s one of the films I always used to watch as a child and to this day is still one of my favourites! The Snowman – Another Christmas classic that I used to watch every year. If you haven’t seen this film then I highly recommend you do so; it’s a short film with a heart-tugging tale and a lot of magic, get the tissues at the ready! And if you enjoy this one then you can watch the recent sequel ‘The Snowman and the Snowdog’, it’s so cute!Father Christmas – If you enjoy The Snowman then I also suggest this film! Both were written by Raymond Briggs and produced similarly, the two are in the same universe and even connect slightly! I haven’t seen this film in ages because it never comes on TV and I don’t have it on DVD but I managed to borrow the DVD recently to watch and I’m so excited to watch it again! It basically shows what Father Christmas does the other 364 days of the year, and rather than being the joyful, happiness-bringing man we all know, he’s actually depicted as being rather grumpy as he goes about normal life with domestic chores. It’s really funny even for adults, and there’s even the sequel ‘Father Christmas Goes on Holiday’ which I’d also recommend! The Santa Clause – This is another classic that I think most people will have watched or heard of, at least the newer ones anyway! Starring Tim Allen as Scott Calvin, Santa is startled into falling off of his roof and Scott puts on Santa’s outfit and starts turning into the new Santa! This film is usually on TV each year and even has two more films following its success. It’s a nice relaxing family film that I would recommend watching on the run up to Christmas!Jingle all the Way and How The Grinch Stole Christmas – Okay so I couldn’t decide for the final place and it came as a tie between these two since I watched them a lot in my childhood but I haven’t actively watched them every Christmas.
First off is ‘Jingle all the Way’ which I watched a lot as a child and I’m not sure if many people have watched it because I haven’t really seen it on TV because of all the new stuff that’s come out but it’s basically about a father trying to get his son a popular toy in a last-minute shopping rush on Christmas Eve. Like The Santa Clause, it’s another relaxing, family-fun film to watch with some Super Hero excitement!
Next is ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ which is pretty much guaranteed to be on every year and if you haven’t got Jim Carrey jumping around in a furry green suit on your screen then I think you’re on the wrong channel. Everyone knows the story of the Grinch so it’s perfect to have in the background whilst you’re wrapping presents!
So that’s it for my suggested Christmas films! There are lots of other lovely Christmas movies, I’m all for the magical excitement and nostalgic feeling rather than humour so if you want to try something different, these are my personal picks!
What are your favourite Christmas movies? Until next time~♥
